Poets wish either to profit or to delight; or to deliver at once both the pleasures and the necessaries of life.
In short, I want to write a lot more, and a benefit of paying to subscribe is that you aren’t expected to keep up with the flood.
In fact I don’t even send these posts to you at the time. I make this nice, calm digest that you can mull over in a single sitting.
I’ve been working in San Francisco all week.
I was determined to read on the plane. I took one book and it was a collection of poems by Charles Bukowski, given to me by a friend who knows I’m fond of the writing of
.In Bukowski, I’ve met another writer I very much enjoy, who describes a world I recognise in a form - poetry - that I think could help me read more regularly and for pleasure (which is something I’ve struggled to do recently with young children to tend to).
My boss inspired me to try eating alone.
