Wow, what a story! Glad it wasn't worse for you. I miss my bike. I haven't ridden since a dog attack that required major surgery. But even before that, I kept to my bucolic large neighborhood's roads which felt safe. Now I make do with a recumbent bike at the gym. :-(
I hear that. I sometimes make it to when the gym opens at 5am during the week and it's blissfully empty. And nobody seems to mess with the 3rd recumbent bike from the right in that long row so I can sit down and slip my kicks right into the pedals. :-)
I have a hyper-alpha anecdote: Once in Stratford, Ontario I was in a totally empty gym except for a guy all the way across, but when I started to use a chest press machine, he growled, "I'm on that." He was way bigger than me, so I moved on.

I have a newfound respect for the stationery bike. Worst thats ever happened to me on that is going to hard on an empty stomach.

That is the most alpha gym thing I have ever heard of. No one dares amend yr straps.

You are cardio alpha. If that other dude wants to be the king of tin he should be using free weights.
As an American guest in Canada, I didn't want to create an incident. :-)
